Goodreads songs (2)

The bugs on Goodreads are still there and multiplying.

Time for another round of parodies!

Don't get me wrong, I love Goodreads.
Well, at least I love the fact that thanks to this website I get to know people from all around the world who share the same passion for reading!

My Goodreads-friends give me daily inspiration and I want to say a big 'Thank you!' to them all ๐Ÿ˜‰

But if you're on Goodreads too, you'll probably know that sometimes there can be a glitch.

And that this website doesn't take its users seriously.

Three months ago I already posted an article with several lyrics to laugh with these bugs.
Now there's a new glitch and three new songs have been added to our parody-database ๐Ÿ˜‹

Due to crazy working hours the past few weeks, I didn't immediately saw that there were a lot of updates missing in my GR-feed.

But now that it caught my eye, I remarked that there are sรณ many reviews of GR-friends that passed unnoticed ...
Will do my best to check them out asap.
Sorry to everyone who probably thought I was ignoring them!

The first song is written by Claudia whose interesting website can be found here.

She wrote some Goodreads lyrics on this tune:

Made to push you around

Better just stay down

You pull away

It hits the script

GR hits the ground

Mouth so full of lies

GR CS tend to block your eyes

Just keep them closed

Keep praying

Just keep awaiting

Waiting for the one

The day that never comes

When GR will stand up and work like a charm

But the sunshine never comes, no

No, the sunshine never comes

Push you cross that line

Just stay down this time

Hide in yourself

Crawl in yourself

You'll have your time

God, we'll make them pay

Take it back one day

We'll end this day

We'll splatter color on this grave

Waiting for the one

The day that never comes

When GR will stand up and work like a charm

But the sunshine never comes

Professionalism is a fifteen letter word

And never spoken here

Professionalism is a fifteen letter word

Here in this prison

We suffer this no longer

We'll put an end to

This we truly wish

This we truly wish

The site will shine

This we truly wish

This we truly wish

This we truly wish

My first song about this new bug is inspired by 'Pack up', a song of Eliza Doolittle.
In my version it became 'Look up':

I get tired and upset

And I'm trying to care a little less

When I'm on Goodreads I only get depressed

I had thought they fixed those issues I was told

Don't worry

'Cause no doubt

There's always something to complain about

My feed has partly fallen out

It doesn't show what my friends have all written about

I've gotta

Look up the profiles of all my friends

Their reviews are within my reach

I do care what their reviews do say

Cause these reviews do matter to me

Look up the profiles and get my smile back

Don't worry it'll turn out fine

I will read what my friends had to say

'Cause their reviews do matter to me

Hot topic

Maybe GR should drop dead

It's a touchy subject

But it's like this site is just a ship going down

We got our thoughts, worth a penny

Although GR seems not to agree

Their business just seems to flee

All the bad feedback they get when we open our mouth

I've gotta

Look up the profiles of all my friends

Their reviews are within my reach

I do care what their reviews do say

Cause these reviews do matter to me

Look up the profiles and get my smile back

Don't worry it'll turn out fine

I will read what my friends had to say

'Cause their reviews do matter to me

Tweet, tweet

Tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet

Tweet, tweet, tweet

Tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet

Tweet, tweet, tweet

Tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet

Tweet, tweet, tweet

Look up the profiles of all my friends

Their reviews are within my reach

I do care what their reviews do say

Cause these reviews do matter to me

Look up the profiles and get my smile back

Don't worry it'll turn out fine

I will read what my friends had to say

'Cause their reviews do matter to me

Yeah

Look up, look up, look up, look up (ah)

Look up, look up, look up, look up  (yeah)

Look up, look up, look up, look up (yeah)

Look up, look up

Another song that came to mind was 'Love bug' by Rick Guard.

At first I hesitated to write a second song lyric, but then I came across following love bugs and I thought it just hรกd to be a sign ๐Ÿ˜„

As the original text of this song is available nowhere (!) on the internet, I've added it below.
Afterwards you can read my adaptation which is titled 'Feed bug' ๐Ÿ˜‹

Original text:

Now I don't see love as a threat

But if I were to make a bet

I think you'll find it would be found

That most of us like playin' around

If infected by the bug

That gives your heart strings quite a tug

You'll fight and fight not to admit

But give it up baby you've been bit

Now your mind is not your own

You've stepped into the danger zone

Warning signs from above

Something tells me I'm in love

Now you can call me paranoid

But up 'til now I did avoid

Any possibility

Of the love bug gettin' a hold of me

The bug takes hold in many ways

And leaves its victims in a daze

Won't play fair but if you're in luck

It'll only hit you like a ten ton truck

Friends at first now you're not sure

You've got it bad and there's no cure

Cupid's out to play his game

Drawing his bow and taking aim

Well oh maybe

I'm crazy

Or maybe

Someone likes me up above

Something tells me I'm in love

I gotta love bug …

L O V E

Something tells me I'm in love

The bug is a drug a natural high

That lifts your soul beyond the sky

Defying logic, faith and law

And the only way to kick it is to get some more

(the only way to kick it is to get some more)

Ah, now you're hooked you've lost your mind

Your pulse is weak and hard to find

And when the one you want walks in the room

The bug makes the tick in the heart go boom

Slap bang in the room

The bug makes the tick in the heart go boom

Slap bang in the room

The bug makes the tick in the heart go boom

Well oh maybe I'm crazy

Or maybe

Someone likes me up above

Likes me like I like the bug

Something tells me I'm in love

This became 'Feed bug':

Now I didn't see feeds as a threat

But if I were to make a bet

I think you'll find it would be found

That most of us like readin' around

If infected by the bug

Goodreads gives your heart strings quite a tug

You'll fight and fight not to admit

But give it up baby you've been bit

Now your mind is not your own

You've stepped into the danger zone

Warning signs from above

Something tells me I'm in need

Now you can call me paranoid

But up 'til now I did avoid

Any possibility

Of the Goodreads bug gettin' a hold of me

The bug takes hold in many ways

And leaves its victims in a daze

Won't play fair but if you're in luck

It'll only hit you like a ten ton truck

Friends' reviews, they disappeared
What happened? This is really weird!

Goodreads's out to play its game

Drawing its bow and taking aim

Well oh maybe

I'm crazy

Or maybe

Goodreads messes with us all
This site's heading towards a wall

I hate the feed bug …

F E E D

Something tells me I'm in need

The bug is a just like an annoying fly

That seems to say: "Hey by the bye,

Defying logic, faith and law

Do you really want me to get you some more?"

(you really want me to get you some more?)

Ah, now you're lost and seek your friends

It's really time this bullshit ends
And when the ones you want walk in the room

The bug makes the tick in the heart go boom

Slap bang in the room

The bug makes the tick in the heart go boom

Slap bang in the room

The bug makes the tick in the heart go boom

Well oh maybe I'm crazy

Or maybe

Goodreads messes with us all
Messes with me to no end

This site's heading towards a wall

Hope you enjoyed these new songs!
And if you want to add other ones, don't hesitate to react below or via mail ! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. Tau, this time I will keep it short and sweet after listening to the tunes while reading through all the adaptations: if I ever want to put up a personal website on the internet, please remind me to check all functionalities a thousandfold (and yes, I really mean "all" and yes, I also really mean "a thousandfold") before I send you the address. But the creativity is undeniable - nice work.

    1. As your chief PR (here I go again!) I've got an even better idea!
We just make your own song(s) which can be listened to at your personal website ๐Ÿ˜„
And thanks for the compliment, both on Claudia's and my own behalf ๐Ÿ˜‰
